LASIK Consult and Co-management

LASIK stand for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis. This technological advanced procedure allows patients reduced dependence on glasses and contacts by reshaping the front of the eye and correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

Our practice co-manages with ophthalmologist using the IntraLase Method , which is a 100% blade free approach to creating the corneal flap. More patients are achieving 20/20 vision or better with this new method. To see if you are a candidate for LASIK surgery and receive a FREE CONSULTATION, call us at 281-485-0388.

Cataract Consult and Co-management

We at Bay Area Eye Center diagnosed cataracts and co-manage surgery with local ophthalmologists. Cataracts is a disease that causes clouding of the lens in the eye. Cataracts prevent clear images from appearing on the eye’s retina; causing glare, distortions and mild to severe blurred vision.

Fifty percent of patients over 65 have a significant amount of cataracts. Cataract surgery is the most common procedure in the world. During cataract surgery, a patient’s cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced with a new intraocular one. The new intraocular lens implanted will either be a single-vision or multi-focal lens which allows one to see near and distance.

Eye Injuries at Home

You might think that the family home is a fairly nonthreatening setting. And responses to a recent public survey commissioned by the American Academy of Ophthalmology show that people generally agree.

Less than half of survey respondents mentioned the home — especially the yard or garage — as the most common site of serious eye injury. Only 35 percent of those surveyed always wear protective eye wear when doing home repair or projects.

However, medical statistics tell a different story: nearly half of all eye injuries each year occur in and around the home, and home-based injuries are increasing each year.

Diabetic Eye Disease

Diabetic eye disease refers to a group of eye problems that people with diabetes may face as a complication of diabetes. All can cause severe vision loss or even blindness.

Diabetic eye disease may include:

-Diabetic retinopathy—damage to the blood vessels in the retina.
-Cataract—clouding of the eye’s lens. Cataracts develop at an earlier age in people with diabetes.
-Glaucoma—increase in fluid pressure inside the eye that leads to optic nerve damage and loss of vision. A person with diabetes is nearly twice as likely to get glaucoma as other adults.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a group of diseases that damage the eye’s optic nerve and can result in vision loss and blindness. However, with early detection and treatment, you can often protect your eyes against serious vision loss.

Cornea | Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)

Conjunctivitis is an inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva, the membrane lining the eyelids and the white part of the eyeball (sclera).
